Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions on our motorhome hire
Can I drive a motorhome on a standard licence?
Yes, all our motorhomes have a MAM (maximum authorised mass) of 3500kg or less, so you can drive on a standard UK licence. You must be between 25 and 70 and have held a full UK or EU licence for at least 2 years to meet our insurance requirements.
Why do you need my driver information?
We provide insurance as part of your hire package and need to verify that you are eligible for this insurance.
What if I have points on my licence?
For speeding points, in many cases we can still provide insurance, but a higher insurance excess may be required. It’s important to let us know when you book so we can check with our insurers.
Can I take a motorhome outside the UK?
If you plan to travel outside the UK, you must inform us at the time of booking. There is an additional charge for EU insurance and breakdown cover. Sorry, we don’t allow travel outside the EU. PLEASE NOTE: We are not allowing our motorhomes to be taken to Germany for Euro 24
Can I take the motorhome to a festival?
We do not allow our motorhomes to be taken onto festival sites or festival campsites without prior permission Please contact us before booking if you’re planning to go to a festival.
What time can I collect the motorhome?
Our standard collection time is between 12.00 – 13.00
You can add early collection as an optional extra when you book. There’s more flexibility on collection times in low and mid-season, so please contact us if you would like to collect outside our standard times.
When do I need to return the motorhome?
Our standard return time is between 09:30 and 10:30 on the final day of your hire.
You can add late return as an optional extra when you book. There’s more flexibility on collection times in low and mid-season, so please contact us if you would like to return outside our standard times.
What days can I collect and return?
Collection days are Monday – Friday. If you need a weekend collection or return, please contact us before booking and we will accommodate this if we can.
Can I leave my car with you?
Yes, you are welcome to leave your car with us free of charge.
What ID do I need when I collect?
All drivers must be present when you collect and bring their original photo driving licence (for non-photo licences, another form of photo ID is also required). You will also need 2 separate forms of proof of address. More details
Does the motorhome have a toilet and shower?
Yes, all our motorhomes have a bathroom with toilet and shower
Does the motorhome have a kitchen?
Yes, all our motorhomes have kitchen areas, please look at the individual motorhome descriptions for details of appliances.
Does the motorhome have a bike rack?
You can add this option on any of our motorhomes except Auto Trail Tracker RS.
What do I need to bring with me?
Our motorhomes are well equipped but don’t include bedding and towels, so please bring these with you.
What is the registration of the motorhome?
Click on ‘reservation receipt’ in your confirmation email and you will find the vehicle registration in the ‘rental’ section.
How long is the motorhome?

Where can I book a campsite?
There are lots of options for campsites, but if you book with the Camping and Caravanning Club, you can get a member discount when hiring one of our motorhomes.
What is the security deposit?
In most cases the security deposit will be £950. As long as there are no issues when you return the motorhome, this is fully refundable.
Do I need to clean the motorhome?
Yes, please return the motorhome in the same clean condition you collected it in. Also, please make sure you have emptied the toilet cassette and waste tank
Do I need a pitch with electric hook up?
All our motorhomes have a ‘leisure battery’ which can run the electrical systems, typically for 1 or 2 nights without ‘hooking up’ to an electricity supply. How long it lasts will depend on how much you use electrical appliances and lights. The leisure battery also gets recharged as you drive.
Do I need a pitch with water?
All our motorhomes have on-board water and waste tanks so this isn’t essential. Just remember to fill the water tank when you arrive on site.
Is there gas in the motorhome?
All our motorhomes have Calor gas (propane) bottles to run the gas appliances.
Will there be fuel in the motorhome?
We operate a full-to-full fuel policy; the motorhome will be supplied with a full tank of fuel, please return it full.
What is your mileage allowance?
Mileage of up to 200 miles per day is included as standard, this is averaged over your whole trip. For example 1400 miles over 7 days.

Rutland Cowgirl30 March 2024We were fortunate enough to hire a 6 berth motorhome for the weekend (15th March 2024) to get a feel of camping life! From booking through to returning the vehicle, the process was fast and very thorough. Kathye was very flexible on collection and return times as we were having it for such a short period. We left our car there in a very safe, secure parking space. The motor home was immaculate and kitted out perfectly. There was a washing up bowl which include dish washing liquid, handwash and kitchen towel. Plus pegs and a line for drying things. The fridge/freezer was huge and plenty of storage space. We went as a family of 4 with two teenagers. Both my husband and I were insured to drive, and both enjoyed driving. We took the three-berth pet-friendly motorhome even though we didn't have a pet and it was immaculate and a perfect size for two. Everything was simple to use - we only needed to watch the on-boarding video once - and we went from nervous novice campers to wild camping addicts in a week. We're already planning our next trip. The owners where lovely to work with and had several options of motor home dependent on the number of births required. All the motorhomes were in immaculate condition. The one we chose came with everything you would require for a holiday other than bedding and linen which is understandable. Full instructions were given by a link to a you tube video, recommended, and paper copies of instructions were supplied with the motorhome. The extra deposit to cover breakages was returned to my account as promised. The property is completely secured so I had no worries leaving my vehicle when I picked up the motorhome. There are probably cheaper companies to work with on the Webb, but with Vista you are ensured of excellent service, a lovely clean and reliable motorhome and personnel contact right up to the day of departure, if required.
